By Maryland law, when a person is admitted to the hospital, a provider is required to complete a MOLST form for them. Not only is a person usually not prepared to have this conversation at this time, but physicians generally also go through the form rather quickly. The MOLST is Medical Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment. This seems like a pretty big deal! Our decisions should be based on our personal preferences, values and goals. But how is someone supposed to decide what treatments they want and not wait until they completely understand the choices of treatments being offered, how those treatments are rendered, and the outcomes? In this in-service program, we’ll not only discuss these topics in detail, but you’ll have the opportunity to get all your questions answered.
